How to check Hook?

Before using a 500 kg construction crane, it is necessary to check whether the crane bolts are loose, whether the electric hoist voltage is stable, whether there are broken strands in the wire rope, and whether there are cracks in the hook. The following describes how to check the hook:

1. Cracks: Hooks must be visually inspected before use. Any hooks found to be cracked must be scrapped immediately.

2. Excessive Wear at Critical Sections: Hooks manufactured according to current standards must be scrapped if the wear at the critical section exceeds 10% of the original height. Hooks manufactured according to older standards must be scrapped if the wear exceeds 5% of the original height. Excessive wear will reduce the hook's strength and create safety hazards.

3. Increased Opening: When the opening increases by 15% compared to the original size, it indicates severe wear, and the hook must be replaced.

4. Torsional Deformation: Hooks with torsional deformation exceeding 10° must be scrapped.

5. Plastic Deformation: Hooks with plastic deformation at the critical section or at the neck should be scrapped immediately.

6. Bushing/Mandrel Wear: When the plate hook bushing wears to 50% of its original size, the bushing must be scrapped; when the plate hook mandrel wears to 5% of its original size, the mandrel must be scrapped.

7. Welding is strictly prohibited: Welding is strictly prohibited for repairing any of the above defects. Hooks that have been welded must never be used.
